Medical Sharps Disposal
Needles and lancets, for both humans and pets, are banned from the trash. Please do not throw them in your trash can or recycling bin as this poses a risk to staff handling them. Instead, HWMA provides free disposal of home-generated medical sharps at the following locations:
Current disposal policies require that all Medical Sharps MUST be packaged in a RED BIOHAZARD SHARPS CONTAINER. Homemade containers will no longer be accepted.
The picture of the red container is representative of these containers, which come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The price per container varies and is available at many local pharmacies and medical supply outlets. Please direct any questions to: Humboldt Waste Management Authority 1059 West Hawthorne Street, Eureka. Call: (707) 441-2005.
