Pharmaceuticals

Pharmaceuticals, including over-the-counter, prescription drugs, and veterinary medications are accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility and mobile HHW events throughout the county. If the bottle contains sensitive client information, please remove pills from bottle, place into a Zip-Loc bag and seal. Liquid medication bottles should also be placed into individual plastic bags, and sealed, to help prevent spills in the event of accidental breakage. Medical sharps, or syringes, must be placed in an approved biohazard sharps container (see “Medical Sharps” section). Controlled substances such as narcotics cannot be accepted at the HHW Facility. The accepted medications are sent for incineration. No products end up in a landfill.
