That's why Humboldt Waste Management Authority proudly supports June 17-21 as Waste and Recycling Workers Week, part of a larger national campaign dedicated to honoring the invaluable contributions of waste and recycling workers to our communities and the planet.

Every day, rain or shine, these dedicated individuals are on the front lines of environmental protection, ensuring that our streets are clean, our waste is properly managed, and our resources are recycled responsibly. They brave challenging conditions, heavy equipment, and tight schedules to keep our neighborhoods clean. 

Waste and recycling workers play a vital role in the circular economy, where resources are used efficiently, reused, and recycled to minimize waste and environmental impact. By collecting and processing waste and recyclable materials, they prevent pollution, conserve energy, and preserve natural resources for future generations.

Despite the critical nature of their work, waste and recycling workers often work behind the scenes, their efforts going unnoticed by many. Waste and Recycling Workers Week aims to change that by shining a spotlight on these essential workers, acknowledging their dedication, and expressing gratitude for their service.
